I decided to start a Youtube series.

The Song of Jim Raynor

Someone on the Starcraft 2 forum suggested it, and I cranked this out in an hour.  I don’t consider it finished but if anybody cares to put a tune to this and perform it, all I require is to be credited (George A. Freeland)

StarCraft and its associated characters and setting are the property of Blizzard Entertainment.

THE SONG OF JIM RAYNOR

I was nothin’ but a lawman in the fringes of space
On a little colony that got in nobody’s face
When an alien Swarm dropped out of the sky
And took all my neighbors on their final goodbye.

The gov’ment dragged its heels while I spun my wheels
I took care of business while they sat in place
I got no thanks while they formed their ranks
And showed up in time to jail me up high

I just wish I could have known from the start
That the devil in disguise wasn’t just an old fart
But I had no choice but to ring his bell
It was just either one or another hell.

(chorus)
Oh I’ll never forget you, lady Ghost
Who he left for the Swarm to metamorphose
I wished I could have stopped lovin’ you
Ever since you hatched from that sac o’ goo.

The old devil, he took me on his shiny spaceship
To work his rebellion at the crack of his whip
I met his lieutenant, her red hair was no wig.
She read my thoughts and she called me a pig.

We broke into a base and ransacked the place
Found their computers and made them go blip.
Got a brochure for a psychotronic lure
That old devil never failed to think big.

I just wish I could have known from the start
That megascale slaughter was to him a work of art.
When he sent poor Sarah on that suicide trip
I should have seen it and got my ass equipped.
(Chorus)

I went on mutiny the soonest that I could,
But before she went down was when I rather would.
The Swarm got to her and took her far away
To do worse than kill her, to rewrite her DNA.

I got a surprise when I saw through her eyes
In a telepathic trick  I knew all that I should
Put my tears in a jar and flew off to Char
To follow my hope she was still okay.

I just wish I could have known from the start
That the old devil never had a heart
When I got there too late and saw her face
Attached to a creature  belonging to that place.
(chorus)

Deep down in my heart I know she’s still there
Underneath the claws and that Medusa hair
I think so long as I never let her go
When she gets into my head she’ll always know.

In the heat of battle, my mouth just rattled.
Killing her I said was a burden I’d bear.
Don’t take it personal, but I got the arsenal
Though I miss Sarah that alien’s got to go.

I just wish I could have known from the start
We were just diamonds on the devil’s flowchart.
If there ever were a way to make Sarah well,
To get it to her I would crawl through hell.
(chorus)

Got Starcraft 2

As a result my creative juices have been stimulated.
While I do have a fanfic in the works and a bit of song lyrics nearly finished, rest assured that after I get those done there will be several pieces of original fiction forthcoming.

Doodling in Windows 7

A couple of interesting options, made possible by the Tablet PC features included in Windows 7. You don’t need a Tablet PC to use these features, just a tablet like one of Wacom’s fine products.

Those options being Sticky Notes and Windows Journal.   Neither are recommended for serious artwork but are fine for doodling.
Sticky Notes is a little tricky to use, albeit simplistic.  You can’t change the pen colors, there’s no undo function, and the eraser erases whole strokes, but you have to touch the actual stroke to erase it, making it sometimes a pain to erase a small dot.  All you have is a black pen.   On the plus side your note “window” has almost no clutter in the way of toolbars and menus.   Also, there’s no popup asking you to save if you close a note.  It just disappears, forever, which is fine if all you’re doing is throwaway scribbles.  The only way to export a doodle from Sticky Notes is to do a screen capture.

But it’s because of the minimal amount of toolbar/menu business that it works well in a small window.  On a widescreen monitor you can have a YouTube video going and still have a good bit of space off to the right to fill with a sticky note.

Windows Journal has a more proper interface with a set of menu and tool bars.  That means the window takes up more screen space than Sticky Notes for documents of equal size.  However, you can save your documents, set up templates, export to TIF format, print, and have some control over pen size and color.

Done in Sticky Notes

Whenever one of the Guild of 19 dies or retires, the remaining eighteen hold a tournament to fill the seat.

Each member is expected to commit to a lifetime of cross-training in sorcery and conventional combat.g19concrete

Mr. Concrete is a concrete golem originally created by the Guild’s founder Janusz Marduk, who died about 300 years ago. Concrete was awakened to intelligence shortly afterwards, and he followed what fuzzy memories he had back to the Guild.

Concrete is presently the most senior member of the Guild of 19, making him Chairman.

G19aloria

Aloria is a dusk elf, a subrace of elves found across the Northlands who are particularly resistant to the cold. She has been in the Guild for about 40 years.
